BorrowMyDoggy is a platform for dog owners and dog lovers to connect and share the care of the dog.

There are two types of memberships when you sign up. The Basic membership is free and this lets you see the members in your area. If you want to message the members in your local area, you will need to upgrade to a Premium membership, which also includes access to our accident and third party liability insurance and a 24/7 Vet Line.

Borrowers do not charge for looking after a dog, they do it simply because they love spending time with dogs.

Once you have subscribed to Premium membership, we will need to verify your address and phone number for safety and security reasons. Once we have verified these details, you will be able to message members and organise a 'Welcome Woof.'

We have an annual fee of £44.99 for owners (no matter how many dogs they have), and £12.99 for borrowers which covers our verification process and provides access to our accident and third party liability insurance and a 24/7 Vet Line.

To search for members in you area, you need to sign up for a free basic account and create your free profile. You will then be able to search and browse profiles of members in your area. If you are happy with your possible matches you can become a Premium member to start messaging local members.

We take safety and security very seriously, and believe that dogs truly are family members. We have an annual fee which covers our verification process that all members must go through before they can chat to one another. The fee also provides access to our safety features, including a 24/7 Vet Line and Emergency medical insurance cover and Third-Party Liability Insurance, this all helps to keep our community as safe and secure as possible.

Build local friendships

BorrowMyDoggy is all about getting to know other dog lovers really well before making a match. Just as you would with a friend, family member, kennel or dog walker, it's important people get to know each other well locally before a dog is taken care of by another person. Everyone, including the dog, needs to feel happy and trust each other since each pooch and person is different. As BorrowMyDoggy owner Kate shared, "at no point was my borrower, Selene, a stranger. By the time that I decided Minnie was going to spend time alone with her, Selene was my friend."

The first step towards this is what we call the ‘Welcome Woof’ - the first meet and greet for the owner, borrower, and dog to get to know each other. Often people meet several times before the borrower takes care of the dog alone, and sometimes even do house visits since matches are local.

Be prepared

Fill out the doggy info sheet to share with any borrowers taking care of your dog. This document includes information about your dog, including their vet details, feeding information and your alternate contact details. This ensures that your dog is getting the best care, and also includes access to the BorrowMyDoggy Vet Line telephone number.

All BorrowMyDoggy dogs must remain on the lead at all times when being borrowed unless written permission has been granted by you, the owner. Remember to keep the signed copy somewhere safe. If your dog is going to be staying in the borrower's house, make sure to do a house visit and make sure that their home is safe for dogs.

Stay Premium

All BorrowMyDoggy dogs are covered by third party liability insurance if both the owner and borrower are Premium members. Also, all Premium members enjoy around-the-clock access to veterinary professionals. They can help with any emergencies, questions or just offer support to make sure all doggy members are happy and healthy.
